I apologize that I haven’t been posting to my blog regularly for one-year now. I believe that most people who follow this blog will understand, because this is a blog for people who are dealing with a lot in their lives just as I have and am. Most people who follow this blog have probably been where I’ve been for the last year.

It was one year ago next weekend that my husband was admitted to the hospital. This hospital admission happened after almost twenty years of me being a family caregiver, so I was already exhausted. It also happened at the same time my father-in-law realized he was too ill to safely receive in-home care anymore and decided to move to assisted living. Therefore, at the same time I was adjusting to some needs my husband’s hospitalization created, I was helping to downsize a fairly large estate and get my father-in-law’s property sold. So, it has been a very busy and emotionally difficult year.

I wish I could say it is over, but it is not. I am just now getting my father-in-law’s estate settled. The needs my husband’s hospitalization has created aren’t quite met yet. In addition, my mother-in-law, who is divorced from my father-in-law and thus in her own house, is starting to downsize. I just got back from a long weekend helping her with Stage 1 of her downsizing. Plus, I have the day to day of my own illnesses and background that I deal with daily. In spite of all of this, I told myself when I realized the timeliness of my blog posts was slipping that I would give myself one year, and at the end of that year, I would get my blog and my writing schedule back on track. Today’s post is an attempt to do that.

I will end my explanation with an apology for anyone this inconvenienced as well as a thank you for your patience.
